Repo! The Genetic Opera

The year is 2056. An organ-failure epidemic has swept the planet, and the GeneCo corporation found a solution: transplants on a payment plan. Miss a payment, and the Repo Man comes — legally authorized to reclaim the organ on the spot, consequences be damned. Teenager Shilo lives sheltered and sick, unaware that her father works for GeneCo in ways she cannot yet imagine. The story unspools entirely through rock arias, operatic duets, and considerable gore.

Bousman built the film from a stage musical, and the raw, theatrical staging is central to its identity — this is not a polished Hollywood production and clearly had no intention of being one. It sits somewhere between Sweeney Todd and exploitation horror, with a cult following that grew steadily after a limited theatrical run.
