Synopsis

The season opens on a dead vaudeville comic, with Murdoch suspecting the real target was Charlie Chaplin. Then Brackenreid's son is wanted for murder, inventor James Pendrick is abducted, and a quiet weekend at a country inn falls apart when a guest turns up dead. A few episodes play with the format outright — an abandoned factory rigged as a lethal escape room, and the Newsome estate declaring itself its own nation.
The CBC series, drawn from Maureen Jennings' books, swings its tone more freely than ever here, from broad comedy to noir. The two-part finale, "Everything Is Broken," gets personal: a brutal killing reaches back into Murdoch's own history. Long-time viewers will feel the weight of who that past involves.
