Synopsis
Season 5 of Murdoch Mysteries (2008) is ready to watch online on iFILM — thirteen 2012 episodes that carry Victorian Toronto toward a new century. It opens far from the station house: Murdoch has quit the force and is panning for gold in the Klondike, until another murder pulls the detective back to what he does best.
Back in Toronto, the cases wear the era on their sleeve. A Protestant alderman is gunned down during an Orange parade, forcing Murdoch to step carefully as the trail points to a Catholic suspect. People keep dying around an exhibit of Egyptian relics while Crabtree blames a mummy's curse. There's James Pendrick's electric carriage, anarchist Emma Goldman, a poisoned opera singer — and in the back third Anna Fulford returns, dragging Murdoch's private life somewhere darker.
Drawn from Maureen Jennings' novels, the show stays cozy and inventive, threading real figures like Jack London and Alexander Graham Bell into the fiction without strain.
