Undertow

Undertow (2004) is David Gordon Green's Southern Gothic thriller, free to watch online on iFILM. Deep in the Georgia backwoods, widower John raises his two boys far from anyone else.

The older one, Chris (Jamie Bell), already carries a troublemaker's name; the younger, Tim, is a strange, quiet kid who eats paint and dirt. Their sealed-off life cracks open when Uncle Deel (Josh Lucas) walks out of prison carrying an old grudge and a nose for the family's hidden gold coins. After one violent night the brothers run — through swamps and dead mill towns — and Chris's boyhood ends mid-stride.

Green shoots the chase like a folk ballad: bare muddy feet, rusted metal, a sun-bleached South. Philip Glass wrote the score, Terrence Malick produced, and you can feel both in every frame.
