Synopsis
The Kid (2019) is a revisionist western you can watch online on iFILM — Vincent D'Onofrio's directorial debut, set in New Mexico Territory in 1880. A teenage boy named Rio and his sister Sara flee a murderous uncle and stumble straight into the endgame between Billy the Kid and Sheriff Pat Garrett. Dane DeHaan plays the outlaw not as myth but as an exhausted young man who already knows how it ends.
Ethan Hawke's Garrett is the film's moral center — a lawman doing a job that history will call heroic and he knows is closer to execution. Chris Pratt as the uncle plays against type in a way that actually lands: controlled, cold, dangerous. D'Onofrio uses Rio's outsider eyes to push the central question — what does legend cost the people who become one.
