Dead for a Dollar

Seasoned bounty hunter Max Borlund rides south to track down a wealthy man's missing wife, allegedly snatched by a Buffalo Soldier named Elijah Jones. The job gets complicated fast when Max runs straight into Joe Cribbens — the professional gambler and outlaw he personally put away years ago. Two armed men, one piece of ground, and a story that doesn't line up the way it was told.

Hill makes Westerns the way he always has: direct, unironic, with room for the actors to breathe. Waltz plays cold calculation beautifully; Dafoe does something slippery and fun with Cribbens.
