Synopsis
Out of the Blue (1981) is a raw Dennis Hopper drama you can watch online on iFILM. CeBe is a teenage tomboy adrift in a Canadian backwater, idolizing Elvis and Johnny Rotten while trusting almost no adult around her.
Her whole world runs on punk records, stolen cigarettes by the railway tracks, and the cab of the truck her father once drove straight into a school bus — a crash that put him behind bars for five years. Her mother shoots up and drifts toward his old buddy. When the alcoholic dad finally gets out, the house only gets colder, and CeBe is left alone with all her fury. Linda Manz plays her with zero performance gloss: feral, fragile, completely real. Hopper himself takes the role of the father and the director's chair.
The film screened in competition at Cannes and slowly grew into a cult favorite among fans of punk grit and stories that refuse a comforting ending. This isn't a coming-of-age tale with a tidy moral. It's a cold close-up of a family already past repair. Bleak, honest, and not built for everyone. Stream Out of the Blue (1981) online on iFILM.
