Synopsis
The Funhouse (1981) is a horror film directed by Tobe Hooper — watch it online on iFILM. Four teenagers dare each other to spend the night locked inside a carnival's haunted-house ride. What starts as a prank turns fatal when they witness a deformed carny worker kill the fortune teller over a handful of dollars.
Now trapped behind closed doors with no way out before morning, Amy and her friends — played by Elizabeth Berridge and Cooper Huckabee — realize the freak show around them is entirely real. The masked killer isn't going to let witnesses walk away.
Hooper, who had already terrorized audiences with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, strips the scares down to basics here: a claustrophobic setting, nowhere to hide, and a slow countdown to dawn. It's lean, unpretentious, and nastier than it looks on the surface — a solid entry in the early-80s slasher cycle for genre fans who like their horror grounded in place.
