The series leans hard into horror aesthetics and a darker palette than the original PLL — this is closer to a slasher mystery than a high-school drama, and that shift is what makes it work.

Created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Coran for HBO Max, Original Sin runs as a fully standalone story — no prior knowledge of the franchise needed.
