Maggie Peyton finds old Herbie at a junkyard and quickly realizes the car has ideas of its own. It steers, brakes, and picks opponents without being asked. Maggie's goal is NASCAR. Her problem is cocky pro Trip Murphy, played by Matt Dillon, who has no interest in losing to a self-driving bug with a personality disorder.
