Synopsis
Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) is the cult horror oddity you can watch online on iFILM — Paul Morrissey's gleefully grotesque riff on the Frankenstein myth, produced under Andy Warhol's banner and first shown in 3D.
Inside his crumbling mansion, the Baron dreams of breeding a master race of obedient creatures. The female is already stitched together; he just needs the right male, topped with the head of a true lecher so the pair will mate on sight. The catch: he and his assistant Otto behead the wrong man — a gentle youth bound for the monastery, not the brothel. Udo Kier plays the Baron somewhere between menace and farce, while Joe Dallesandro is the farmhand who catches the bored Baroness's eye.
Forget a straight scare picture. This is provocation as kitsch — blood, dismemberment and deadpan black comedy played with a perfectly serious face. Decades on, it remains one of the defining sleaze-horror titles of 1970s European cinema. Best suited to viewers who like their old movies grimy and strange.
