Synopsis
Milk Money (1994) is a romantic comedy directed by Richard Benjamin that you can watch online on iFILM. Twelve-year-old Frank and two friends pool every dollar they've saved — $103.62 — and take the bus into the city on a very specific mission: to see a naked woman.
The woman is V, played by Melanie Griffith with an ease that keeps the premise from tipping into discomfort. V is good-natured and a little tired, and when her car breaks down in the suburbs and a mobster played by Malcolm McDowell starts looking for her, disappearing into a quiet neighborhood turns out to be exactly what she needs. Frank decides she'd make a perfect mom and sets about introducing her to his widowed father (Ed Harris), who knows nothing about any of this.
The movie works by holding two tones at once — the sincere logic of a kid's romantic scheme and the messier reality of adult lives. Ed Harris commits to the earnestness completely, and that's what makes it land. It's a 1990s suburban comedy with an unusually warm centre. Stream Milk Money (1994) online on iFILM.
