Synopsis
Godzilla Minus Zero (2026) is a Japanese kaiju sci-fi film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Takashi Yamazaki returns to postwar Japan for a second chapter set in 1949, two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One. The Shikishima family faces a new calamity, with Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe back alongside Yuki Yamada and Munetaka Aoki.
Minus One worked because Yamazaki treated the monster as a continuation of the war's damage — something the country couldn't afford, arriving when it had nothing left. Minus Zero extends that argument. The Japan of 1949 is still raw, still rebuilding, and Godzilla is still not done with it. Yamazaki keeps the emotional weight that made the first film land harder than expected for a creature feature.
Minus One claimed the Oscar for Visual Effects — the first Japanese film to do so — and earned its critical standing without leaning on franchise legacy alone.
