Synopsis
Tales of Terror (1962) is a horror anthology you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Roger Corman for American International Pictures. Three short films adapted from Edgar Allan Poe, each starring Vincent Price, each doing something different with dread.
"Morella" is Gothic and grim: a dead wife's spirit returns through her daughter. "The Black Cat" is where Peter Lorre steals everything — a jealous drunk who walls up his wife and her lover, undone by a cat he didn't notice. "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" brings in Basil Rathbone as a hypnotist who freezes a dying man at the threshold of death, with results nobody planned for.
This was Corman and Price's fourth Poe picture together. Lorre's comedic thread in the middle segment is what separates it from the rest of the cycle — without him it's a solid B-picture; with him, it's genuinely fun. Stream Tales of Terror (1962) online on iFILM.
