Synopsis
FairyTale: A True Story (1997) is a family fantasy drama you can watch online on iFILM. England, 1917. Two young cousins, Elsie and Frances, come back with snapshots that seem to show real fairies dancing in their garden.
The pictures land in the newspapers and split the country in two. Some take them as proof of the impossible; others smell a child's prank. Two famous men step into the argument. Arthur Conan Doyle, played by Peter O'Toole, desperately wants to believe. Harry Houdini, played by Harvey Keitel, hunts for the trick behind every frame. Director Charles Sturridge keeps the audience suspended right between them.
The film draws on the actual Cottingley Fairies case, one of the great hoaxes of the twentieth century. It skips loud effects and trusts something quieter instead: a child's stubborn faith in what grown-ups stopped seeing. A gentle pick for a family evening, best watched with someone who hasn't yet outgrown wonder. Stream FairyTale: A True Story (1997) online on iFILM.
