Escape at Dannemora (2018) is a true-crime miniseries you can watch online on iFILM. Director Ben Stiller spent eight episodes reconstructing the summer 2015 breakout from Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate New York — at the time the largest prison manhunt in state history. Benicio del Toro, Paul Dano and Patricia Arquette lead the cast.

Richard Matt and David Sweat spent months tunneling through the prison walls, but the more unsettling story belongs to Joyce Mitchell, the civilian workshop supervisor who got drawn into their plans by both men at once. Her husband worked the same wing. The three-week manhunt that followed shut down towns and rattled a region that had never expected to need roadblocks.

Stiller shot most of the series on location near the real prison, keeping the frame flat and cold and the pacing deliberately slow — this is not a thriller about the thrill of escape, it's about how ordinary desperation makes people cross lines they can't come back from.
