Synopsis
"The Munsters" (2022) is a comedy fantasy you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Rob Zombie as a full origin story for the beloved 1960s TV family. Lily is a 150-year-old vampire who has given up on finding the right monster — until Herman Munster walks through the door.
Herman is seven feet of green-stitched enthusiasm: a body assembled from mismatched parts, animated by the soul of a rock musician. He falls for Lily on the spot. Her father, the Count, has other ideas. Jeff Daniel Phillips and Sheri Moon Zombie bring genuine warmth to the doomed-from-the-start courtship, while Daniel Roebuck, Jorge Garcia, and Cassandra Peterson pile on the Transylvanian chaos. It's a love story where the biggest obstacle is the bride's father — who is considerably more monstrous than the groom.
Zombie shot the film in a deliberately theatrical palette, all saturated reds and expressionist shadows, leaning into the staginess of classic Universal monster pictures rather than irony.
