Synopsis
Factotum (2005) is a deadpan drama you can watch online on iFILM. Norwegian director Bent Hamer adapts Charles Bukowski's 1975 novel, with Matt Dillon playing Hank Chinaski — the writer's fictional stand-in — drifting through Los Angeles in a loop of warehouse shifts, cheap wine and losing bets at the track.
Chinaski gets hired, gets fired, drinks through the evening and does it again the next week. Lily Taylor and Marisa Tomei play the women drawn into the same orbit. He keeps mailing stories to literary magazines. They keep sending them back. Writing is the only thing he takes seriously — everything else is noise he manages until the next shift.
