Titus

Titus (1999) is Julie Taymor's film adaptation of Shakespeare's earliest and most brutal tragedy — watch it online on iFILM. Hopkins, across 162 minutes, traces Titus from decorated general to a man who has simply run out of grief and started calculating.

Taymor came from theater directing — the Broadway Lion King was hers — and her first feature film shows exactly that. Ancient Roman armor sits beside motorcycles and fascist-era architecture without apology. It's a deliberate disorientation that makes the violence feel less like history and more like argument.
