Synopsis
The Tempest (2010) is Julie Taymor's screen take on Shakespeare, available to watch online on iFILM. Here the sorcerer Prospero becomes Prospera — a deposed ruler played by Helen Mirren.
Stranded on a wild island with her daughter Miranda (Felicity Jones), Prospera has spent years building her power. The storm that wrecks her enemies' ship is no accident; it's the opening move of her revenge. As the castaways wander the island's illusions, Miranda and Prince Ferdinand fall for each other — the one piece of magic Prospera can't command. Alan Cumming, Chris Cooper, Russell Brand and Ben Whishaw as the spirit Ariel round out the cast.
