Renton Thurston is fourteen and stuck in a small town, dreaming of joining Gekkostate — the rebel crew that surfs the sky on mechs called LFOs. When a legendary unit, the Nirvash Type Zero, crashes into his grandfather's garage piloted by a quiet girl named Eureka, Renton gets his chance. He joins the crew of the Gekko-Go and discovers fast: the Federation is hunting them, mysterious organisms called Coralians are reshaping the world, and whatever he feels for Eureka is harder to figure out than any battle.

The series takes the mech-anime template and bends it toward first love and growing up rather than fight choreography. Episode titles come from club music, the background cast is drawn with unusual depth, and the tonal range — from action to quiet grief — is wider than the genre usually allows.
