Synopsis
Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) is an American crime action film you can watch online on iFILM, and one of the most singular productions in the genre: writer, director, producer, star, and stunt driver H.B. Halicki made the entire film himself over three years with no studio backing. His character Maindrian Pace is a professional car thief contracted to steal 48 vehicles — and everything goes smoothly until the last one.
That final target is a 1973 Ford Mustang fastback, codenamed Eleanor. What follows is a chase sequence shot live on the streets of Long Beach, Carson, and Compton, destroying roughly a hundred cars in the process — none of it staged in the controlled way Hollywood action is staged. The pursuit runs for over forty minutes of screen time, which remains extraordinary by any standard.
The Nicolas Cage remake two decades later made far more money and had a real budget. But this original — raw, low-fi, punishingly real — is the one that convinced the world that car chases could be cinema. Stream Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) online on iFILM.
