Synopsis
The Foot Fist Way (2006) is Jody Hill's scrappy indie comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Fred Simmons runs a strip-mall taekwondo studio in small-town North Carolina and genuinely believes he's a big deal.
His fragile ego cracks wide open when he learns his wife has cheated on him. Humiliated, Fred sets off to track down his idol, washed-up TV martial artist Chuck "The Truck" Wallace, convinced that meeting his hero will fix everything. Danny McBride headlines in his breakout role, already sketching the delusional blowhard he'd later perfect as Kenny Powers and across The Righteous Gemstones.
Shot for almost no money, the film caught fire at Sundance and found champions in Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, who helped push it into theaters. The comedy is awkward, mean and proudly pathetic — catnip for anyone who loves watching a self-styled tough guy faceplant.
