The Frankenstein Chronicles (Seasons 1–2)

The Frankenstein Chronicles (2015) is a gothic crime series led by Sean Bean, ready to watch online on iFILM. In 1820s London, Inspector John Marlott pulls a corpse from the Thames — a body stitched together from the parts of several missing children.

The hunt drags Marlott through a city of opium dens, anatomy theatres and poverty, where surgeons trade in stolen cadavers and someone is trying to reanimate the dead. Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein, turns up among the suspects. The closer the inspector gets, the less sure he is whether he's chasing a man or something unnatural.

Bean carries the show with a near-silent, haunted performance as a detective worn down by illness and his own past. The slow pace and heavy gloom owe more to horror fiction than to a standard procedural, and across two seasons the story turns far darker than it first lets on.
