Queen of the Desert

Herzog builds the film around landscape as much as character. The desert is not backdrop here — it is the point. The tribal leaders she met, the maps she drew, the dispatches she sent back — none of it feels rushed, because the film refuses to compress a life this large into a tidy arc.
