Synopsis
The ABC Murders (2018) is a British crime miniseries worth watching online on iFILM. An aging Hercule Poirot, played by John Malkovich, starts receiving taunting letters signed only "A.B.C."
England, 1933. The famous detective's reputation has faded, the old allies who once respected him have moved on, and then the threats turn real. The killings follow the alphabet — a victim in a town starting with A, then B — and a railway guide is left at every scene. Young Inspector Crome treats the Belgian like a senile relic, so Poirot works the case mostly alone, while fragments of who he was before England begin to surface.
Sarah Phelps adapted Agatha Christie's novel into something far darker than cozy period mystery: grim lighting, poverty on the streets and pre-war suspicion of outsiders. Malkovich plays Poirot weary and isolated, stripped of the usual polish, with Rupert Grint as the cynical inspector. Purists hoping for a tidy puzzle may bristle; if you like cold, psychological Christie, it lands. Stream The ABC Murders (2018) online on iFILM.
