Uncertainty

Uncertainty (2009) is an indie drama-thriller you can watch online on iFILM. On a footbridge over the East River, young New York couple Bobby and Kate flip a coin — and a single Fourth of July splits cleanly in two.

From there the film runs both threads at once. In the Brooklyn strand, the two visit Kate's family: quiet talk about kin, loss and what comes next, an everyday romance with no villains. In the Manhattan strand, a stranger's lost phone drags them into pursuit, blackmail and a killing. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lynn Collins essentially play two versions of the same pair.

Directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel worked without a locked script, building scenes from the actors' improvisation. It's a niche watch — slow and formally minded — but the what-if-it-forked premise sticks with you. Stream Uncertainty online on iFILM.
