Lost in Paris

Lost in Paris (Paris pieds nus, 2017) is a French-Belgian slapstick comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Fiona, a clumsy small-town Canadian librarian, gets a frantic letter from her 88-year-old Aunt Martha in Paris and catches the first flight over — only to land and find that Martha has vanished without a trace.

From there everything goes sideways. Fiona drops her backpack into the Seine, loses her money and papers, and crosses paths with Dom, a cheerfully shameless homeless man who falls for her on the spot. The humor is almost wordless and deeply physical, closer to silent cinema than to dialogue: pratfalls, absurd footwork, choreography disguised as chaos. Fiona Gordon and Dominique Abel star and also directed it together, with Emmanuelle Riva, in one of her final roles, and Pierre Richard rounding things out.
