Synopsis
Family Romance, LLC (2019) is a Japanese-language drama by Werner Herzog — watch it online on iFILM. In Tokyo, a company called Family Romance actually exists: it rents out actors to play missing relatives, absent fathers, supportive colleagues — whoever a client needs but doesn't have. Yuichi Ishii, the firm's real-life founder, plays himself.
One commission stands apart. A mother hires Ishii to pose as the long-vanished father of her twelve-year-old daughter, Mahiro. The longer the job runs, the harder it becomes to locate where performance ends and something genuine begins.
