Treasure Island (Season 1)

"Treasure Island" (2012) is a two-part British miniseries you can watch online on iFILM. Toby Regbo plays Jim Hawkins — the teenage innkeeper's son who ends up with a pirate's map and no idea how dangerous that is. The ship sets sail, and the crew is already lying.

Long John Silver is the center of the series, and Eddie Izzard plays him without a wink. This Silver calculates everything, including which part of the truth to share and when. The cast also includes Elijah Wood, Donald Sutherland, and Rupert Penry-Jones. Director Steve Barron made this for Sky1 and kept the tone close to Stevenson's novel — less swashbuckling adventure, more a story about what a boy learns when competence and loyalty turn out not to travel together.
