Synopsis
Around the World in 80 Days (2021) is a family adventure series you can watch online on iFILM. This adaptation of Jules Verne's novel stars David Tennant as the reserved Phileas Fogg.
A buttoned-up English gentleman suddenly takes a reckless wager: circle the globe in eighty days. Joining him are his resourceful valet Passepartout, played by Ibrahim Koma, and ambitious reporter Abigail Fix, played by Leonie Benesch, who means to file the story for her father's newspaper. Trains, steamers, hot-air balloons, sandstorms and revolutions block the trio's path from Paris to Hong Kong. The further they travel, the less the journey feels like a bet and the more it tests who each of them really is.
This eight-part production is mounted as a sweeping European co-production: locations across seven countries, nineteenth-century costumes, and an unhurried but lavish sense of scale. Tennant plays Fogg as touchingly unsure of himself rather than the dry pedant of the page, and that warmer reading anchors the whole show.
