Synopsis
Watch the drama Clean and Sober (1988) online on iFILM. Daryl Poynter is a slick real estate broker who feeds a cocaine habit between deals. One morning he wakes beside a woman who has overdosed in his bed — and a large sum has vanished from a company account he quietly drained himself.
Running from the police, Daryl checks into a rehab program — not to get well, but to lie low under a promise of anonymity. The plan falls apart fast. His counselor Craig, a recovering addict, sees through every excuse and refuses to let him con his way out. There Daryl meets Charlie, another patient, falls for her, and suddenly has something to lose besides himself.
Michael Keaton, until then known for comedy, took one of his first dramatic leads here, opposite Morgan Freeman as the no-nonsense sponsor and Kathy Baker. Director Glenn Gordon Caron skips the sermon: no scheduled catharsis, just thirty brutal days in which a man either starts telling the truth or doesn't. A dry, honest film about how hard it is to stop lying to yourself. Stream Clean and Sober (1988) online on iFILM.
