Synopsis

Anne Hathaway plays Elena McMahon, a journalist used to digging into other people's secrets who suddenly becomes the story herself. When Elena takes his place on one last deal, she lands at the heart of the Iran-Contra scandal, with a shadowy government man, played by Ben Affleck, as her only handler. Trusting anyone here is a gamble.
The film is adapted from Joan Didion's novel and premiered on Netflix. Rees, already praised for Mudbound, carries Didion's eighties paranoia onto the screen.
