The Parole Officer

The Parole Officer (2001) is a British crime comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Steve Coogan plays a hopelessly clumsy parole officer who happens to witness a murder, then realises he's been framed for it by a senior, very crooked police chief.

To clear his name he needs a piece of evidence locked inside a bank vault, and there's no way he's getting it alone. So he tracks down the only people who might help: a handful of his old clients, ex-cons who've long since gone straight. The result is a shambolic heist where nothing goes to plan and the ringleader panics louder than anyone he recruited. John Duigan directs, with Lena Headey, Ben Miller and a scene-stealing Omar Sharif alongside Coogan, plus an early glimpse of a young Simon Pegg. The humour is dry, awkward and thoroughly English — a small-man caper about a guy finally trying to do the right thing. Light, 93-minute evening viewing.
