Synopsis
This Man Must Die (Que la bête meure, 1969) is a French-Italian crime thriller directed by Claude Chabrol — watch it online on iFILM. A hit-and-run driver kills a young boy on a quiet provincial street and disappears. No witnesses. Police file goes cold.
The boy's father, writer Charles Thenier (Michel Duchaussoy), decides to track the man down himself — not to press charges, but to kill him. A chance encounter leads him to actress Helène Lanson (Caroline Cellier), who was in the car that day. Her brother-in-law Paul Decourt (Jean Yanne) turns out to be the man he's been hunting. The closer Thenier gets, the more his carefully constructed purpose starts to unravel.
