Synopsis
Lucky Louie (2006) is an HBO comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. Louis C.K. created it and stars as Louie, with Pamela Adlon playing his wife Kim.
Louie scrapes by working part-time at a muffler shop, money is always short, and home means a tired marriage and a small daughter named Lucy. That cramped, broke domestic life is the whole engine of the jokes: arguments about sex, fights over bills, blunt talks with a curious kid, and a circle of hapless friends down the hall. HBO shot it deliberately like an old-school sitcom, a flat set, three cameras, a live audience and a laugh track, then filled that familiar shape with raw, profane, painfully honest material no network sitcom would touch.
One season, thirteen episodes, and the network pulled the plug. Still, you can see the seed of his later show Louie and the comic's whole signature here: funny right up to the point it makes you squirm. A very young Emma Stone turns up in an early role.
