Synopsis

One Million Years B.C. (1966) is a British adventure fantasy from Hammer Film Productions — watch online on iFILM. Director Don Chaffey handed the creature work to stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen, who filled the screen with pterodactyls, giant turtles, and a prehistoric spider. Raquel Welch starred as Loana, and the fur bikini poster became one of the most reproduced images of the decade before the film even opened.

Tumak, banished from the brutal Rock Tribe, stumbles into the Shell Tribe and meets Loana. Two clans, two sets of rules, one forbidden connection. The science is pure fantasy — humans and dinosaurs never coexisted, and the film doesn't care — but the spectacle is the point. At 96 minutes it delivers monster fights, tribal conflict, and a volcanic finale without padding.

The Harryhausen sequences hold up as craft even now — there is a texture to hand-built models that digital work rarely matches. Taken as a time capsule of 1960s pop-culture excess, it rewards the curious viewer. Stream One Million Years B.C. (1966) on iFILM.
