Synopsis

Officer Zhong Wen goes to a nightclub to patch things up with his estranged daughter Miao Miao. He never gets the chance: the club's owner seals the doors and holds everyone inside as leverage, demanding the release of a specific prisoner. Zhong is trapped without his weapon, and the person he most needs to protect is right there with him.
Ding Sheng stripped the franchise back to almost nothing — no sprawling stunt sequences, mostly one location, and a Jackie Chan who is visibly tired rather than invincible. For long-time fans that shift is either disappointing or exactly right, depending on whether they wanted more of the same or something with actual stakes.
