Superstition

Superstition (1982) is an American horror film you can watch online on iFILM. The abandoned house by the lake has an ugly reputation: three centuries ago a witch was drowned on the grounds, and with her last breath she cursed the men who killed her and everyone descended from them.

When the church decides to reopen the place and moves a new minister and his family in, the curse stirs. One death follows another, each one nastier than the last, as the witch works through the bloodline of her executioners. A police inspector and a young pastor try to make sense of the killings, but the deeper they dig, the clearer it gets that a force this old won't be stopped by ordinary means. James Houghton, Albert Salmi and Lynn Carlin head the cast, with James W. Roberson directing.

At eighty-five minutes, it's a solid early-'80s genre piece built on a gloomy mansion, a watery curse and inventive death scenes rather than character study.
