Synopsis
The King (2006) is a psychological thriller directed by James Marsh — watch online on iFILM. Gael Garcia Bernal plays Elvis Valderez, a Navy veteran who drives to Corpus Christi, Texas, to find the father who once abandoned him. That father, Pastor David Sandow (William Hurt), runs a church, has a new family, and wants no part of his past.
Elvis stays. He edges his way into the household — the pastor's daughter (Pell James), his teenage son (Paul Dano) — patient and still in a way that stops reading as grief and starts reading as intent. Marsh keeps the frame tight and the audience off-balance; what looks like a lost man searching for belonging quietly reveals itself as something far more calculated.
The tagline says "The devil made me do it." The film earns every word of it. Stream The King (2006) online on iFILM — a cold, controlled thriller with Bernal doing some of his most unsettling work.
