Synopsis
Mektoub, My Love: Canto Uno (2018) is a French drama from director Abdellatif Kechiche — stream it online on iFILM. Aspiring screenwriter Amin (Shaïn Boumedine) leaves Paris to spend the summer on the Mediterranean coast near Sète, where his family runs a Tunisian restaurant. The days blur into each other: beaches, bars, cousins, girls on holiday and long evenings that stretch until dawn.
Ophélie loves Tony, who loves no one in particular. Charlotte wants everything at once. Amin watches it all from the edges, camera in hand, quietly falling for someone he can barely admit to himself. Kechiche shoots with a looseness that feels almost documentary — long, warm takes where nothing decisive happens and yet every glance carries weight.
At 174 minutes, this is cinema that asks for patience. If you've seen The Blue Is the Warmest Colour and know what Kechiche does with time and bodies and the slow burn of desire, you'll know what to expect. Stream Mektoub, My Love (2018) on iFILM.
