Synopsis
Rudolph's Shiny New Year (1976) is a stop-motion holiday special you can watch online on iFILM. Made by Rankin/Bass, it sends the red-nosed reindeer off on a rescue that has nothing to do with Christmas and everything to do with the clock striking twelve.
Baby New Year — nicknamed Happy — has run away, and unless someone finds him before midnight, the old year will never end. Santa picks Rudolph for the job, because that glowing nose can cut through any storm. Red Skelton narrates, Frank Gorshin and Morey Amsterdam join the voice cast, and Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass direct in their signature puppet style.
It's a short, cozy bit of vintage seasonal TV, best watched with kids over the holidays. Stream Rudolph's Shiny New Year (1976) online on iFILM.
