Synopsis
The Addiction (1995) is Abel Ferrara's black-and-white vampire film — watch it online on iFILM. Kathleen, a New York philosophy PhD student played by Lili Taylor, gets bitten one night and begins to change. What follows isn't a traditional horror arc — it's a study of compulsion, guilt and complicity dressed up in Gothic clothes.
Ferrara frames vampirism as addiction in the literal sense: Kathleen's hunger escalates in lockstep with her intellectual sharpening, and the two feel causally linked. Christopher Walken appears in a memorably strange cameo as an older vampire who has his own theory of self-control. Annabella Sciorra, Edie Falco and Michael Imperioli fill out a cast that punches well above the budget.
Shot entirely in monochrome, the film uses New York City's streets like a stage set from a Dostoevsky novel. For viewers who want their horror with philosophical weight and no easy resolution, this one holds up. Stream The Addiction (1995) online on iFILM.
