Synopsis
Welcome to New York (2014) is Abel Ferrara's blunt, abrasive drama, available to watch online on iFILM. Gérard Depardieu plays the financier Devereaux; Jacqueline Bisset is his wife.
Devereaux moves billions and eyes the French presidency, yet what brings him down is appetite, not politics. One night in a Manhattan hotel ends with a maid accusing him of assault. From there Ferrara shoots the fallout almost like a procedural — the handcuffs, the mugshot, the holding cell, the strip search — sparing his subject nothing. The echo of the Dominique Strauss-Kahn case is deliberate and unhidden.
