Synopsis
Cloak and Dagger (1946) is a WWII spy thriller directed by Fritz Lang — watch it online on iFILM. Gary Cooper plays Alvah Jesper, a nuclear physicist pulled out of civilian life and sent by the OSS to retrieve atomic secrets from Nazi-controlled Europe.
Jesper's mission opens in neutral Switzerland with a planned meeting that falls apart immediately. From there he moves into German-occupied Italy, working with local partisans and a young woman named Gina (Lilli Palmer) whose survival depends on how well the operation holds together.
Lang had fled Nazi Germany a decade before making this film, and something of that experience runs beneath the surface — the tension lives in silences and unreadable faces rather than gunfights.
