Synopsis
You, the Living (Du levande, 2007) is a Swedish deadpan comedy from director Roy Andersson — watch online on iFILM. Running 89 minutes, it was co-produced across six countries and carries zero conventional plot. Instead, Andersson strings together dozens of brief vignettes, some barely half a minute long, about ordinary people quietly failing to connect with each other.
A young woman obsesses over a rock guitarist who barely registers her existence. A psychiatrist admits he stopped treating patients long ago and just writes prescriptions. A cement-truck driver dreams he's executed for destroying someone's furniture. The film is shot in Andersson's signature style: wide, static frames, chalk-pale faces, interiors drained of color. If you find Tati too cheerful and Kafka too literary, this is the precise middle ground. Stream You, the Living (2007) online on iFILM.
