Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941) is Alexander Hall's heavenly fantasy comedy, free to watch online on iFILM. Boxer Joe Pendleton dies in a plane crash before his time, because a rookie angel pulled his soul loose too soon.

By the time the mistake is caught, Joe's body has already been cremated. So the unflappable Mr. Jordan, played by Claude Rains, lends him a new one: millionaire Bruce Farnsworth, freshly poisoned by his scheming wife. Stuck in a stranger's skin, Joe tries to train for a title shot, clean up Farnsworth's shady affairs and, to his own surprise, falls in love.

The film took home two Oscars, for its original story and screenplay, and set the template for every body-swap afterlife comedy that followed, right up to Heaven Can Wait. Robert Montgomery plays the confusion with real charm, while James Gleason steals scenes as the manager who can't believe his eyes. Light, witty and unexpectedly tender.
