Synopsis

How the Universe Works (2010) Season 7 is available to watch online on iFILM — ten 2019 episodes where the Science Channel doc heads for the most extreme objects out there and the boldest theories about them.

It kicks off with neutron stars: tiny, impossibly dense, violent enough to seem to break the rules of physics. After that come the supernovas that forge the elements behind all life, the surprisingly crowded space between the stars, and a rethink of black holes — maybe nothing, not stars, not us, exists without them. One episode swings for the fence and asks whether the Big Bang happened at all, or whether it was a doorway into a multiverse. Late in the run the focus turns homeward: the hunt for alien life, the search for a second Earth, and a farewell to Cassini as it burned up in Saturn's atmosphere.

This season is braver with its questions and more careful with its answers, showing the frontier of astrophysics rather than settled fact. A good place to gauge where the science actually stands now. Stream How the Universe Works Season 7 online on iFILM.
