Synopsis
The Midnight After (2014) is a Hong Kong genre hybrid — sci-fi, horror, and pitch-black comedy folded together — directed by Fruit Chan, available to watch online on iFILM. A minibus making the Mong Kok to Tai Po run passes through Lion Rock Tunnel. On the other side, the city is empty.
No pedestrians, no phone signal, no answers. The sixteen passengers — office workers, a barmaid, teenagers, an elderly fisherman — try to work out what happened to Hong Kong. Simon Yam, Sam Lee, and Kara Hui are among those trapped in the bus as things grow stranger and more threatening with each passing hour.
Fruit Chan adapted the film from a viral Hong Kong online novel, and the source material's dread-laced absurdism transfers to the screen intact. Watch The Midnight After (2014) online on iFILM.
