Becoming Led Zeppelin
An access-all-areas journey to
Synopsis
Becoming Led Zeppelin (2025) is Bernard MacMahon's music documentary you can watch online on iFILM. It traces how four British musicians found one another in a single rehearsal room during the summer of 1968 and, within a few short years, became the biggest force in rock.
There's no gossip here, just the music and the memory of it. Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones sat down on camera for the first time to talk through their earlier bands, the small British clubs, and the day the four of them first played a note together. Drummer John Bonham, gone since 1980, speaks through archival audio, while the screen fills with restored footage of early shows and backstage moments no audience had seen before.
MacMahon deliberately ends the story right at the edge of global fame, staying with where the band came from rather than the legend it became. It's a rare case of the surviving members agreeing to take part in a film about themselves. Essential viewing for anyone who wants the Led Zeppelin origin story straight from the people who lived it.
